Visiting my parents house is always a nice little getaway, and having access to a fully stocked kitchen doesn’t hurt either. :) My Mom has every sort of utensil, machine, and spice imaginable so I made it my mission to test out protein waffles this weekend!
I searched everywhere online to find the perfect recipe. The most simple one I found was from www.bodybuilding.com - whey protein powder and water! For my first time around though, I wanted something with a little more edge. www.proteinpow.com is an amazing website to use! She can make almost anything out of different types of protein powder, and even provides the macros! Using a few of her listed ingredients along with others from various recipes, I conjured up my first batch of protein waffles!

Here, I used a few simple ingredients. I was very surprised; they didn’t turn out as dry as I expected! VERY delicious!
2.5 scoops chocolate whey, 2 egg whites, 2 tbsp. almond milk, 1/4 cup dry oats, 1/4 cup pumpkin puree = CHOCOLATE WHEY PROTEIN WAFFLES!
My Dad seemed intrigued by the concept, so I promised him I would bust out some more for Sunday breakfast. Ingredients were being thrown around, adding more to the mixing bowl each time before spreading the batter on the griddle.
I started off with -
1 scoop chocolate whey, 3 scoops vanilla whey, 3 egg whites, splashes of water (enough to develop batter consistency), 1/4ish cup pumpkin puree, chopped pecans, and dashes of cinnamon, allspice, and unsweetened cocoa

Then, I proceeded to add -
1/4ish cup pumpkin puree, 1ish tbsp. melted peanut butter, handful blueberries, 1/4ish cup dry oats, and ended with 0.5 scoop of vanilla whey

I added the extra pumpkin puree and vanilla whey at the end simply to try and get a little more batter for one last waffle. Throw some peanut butter on top and BOOM! All of the waffles turned out great!! I could definitely tell which waffle was which! The blueberries definitely added a great touch. :) My Dad seemed to love them, saying he couldn’t even tell the difference vs. regular pancakes!! Him adding syrup, molasses, and honey on top kind of defeated the purpose…but I was pleased to know he enjoyed a healthier breakfast alternative! All in all, I love the concept of protein waffles!! You feel so guilty, but yet, IT’S NOT! Enjoy! :)
